Single-pane and failing windows are one of the biggest sources of wasted heat in an older house. This record covers the program Veteran homeowners use to replace them with energy-saving units, and the basic conditions a household usually has to meet before a licensed installer will quote the work.

What This Program Covers
Every home is different. Most Veterans who use this program are looking at one or more of these:
- New energy-saving windows for the whole house, or just the rooms that need them most
- Double-pane and low-emissivity glass that keeps heat in during winter and out during summer
- Storm and impact-rated glass in areas that get hard weather
- Old frames removed, new frames sealed, and the site cleaned up when the crew leaves
- Written workmanship warranty from the installer

Eligibility Requirements
The basics are simple. Most Veterans who move forward can check off this list:
- You served in the U.S. Armed Forces with an Honorable or General Discharge
- You have your DD-214, or you can request a copy (your family can request it too)
- You own the home and it is your main residence
- Your windows are old, drafty, foggy, or single-pane
- Surviving spouses of a Veteran may also be eligible
Veterans use this program most often after a winter of high heating bills, or when one room in the house never seems to stay warm.
